Professional Staff Profiles

J. Scott Harkness, CFA is Chairman of the Board, Chief Executive Officer and Portfolio Manager of Provident Trust Company (formerly Provident Investors, LLC), which he established in 1998. Prior to founding Provident Trust Company, Mr. Harkness was Chairman of Firstar Investment Research and Management Company (“FIRMCO”), where he served as Chief Investment Officer (“CIO”) since its incorporation in 1986. As CIO, he was responsible for overall investment direction, investment policy and management of certain individually-managed accounts.  Prior to assuming his role at FIRMCO, Mr. Harkness was a Senior Vice President and CIO for Firstar Bank Madison (formerly First Wisconsin National Bank of Madison) which he joined in 1980. Mr. Harkness managed the Firstar Special Growth Fund and the Firstar Special Equity Growth Fund B from 1989 and 1981, respectively, until his departure. Mr. Harkness is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin and a director of Jacobus Energy, Inc.  Mr. Harkness is a member of the CFA Institute* and the CFA Society of Milwaukee.

Michael A. Schelble, CFA, JD, MS is President, Chief Operating Officer, Director and Portfolio Manager of Provident Trust Company (formerly Provident Investors, LLC) where he has been employed since its inception in 1998.  Prior to Provident Trust Company, Mr. Schelble was Vice President and Portfolio Manager for FIRMCO, which he joined in 1994. At FIRMCO he was responsible for managing certain taxable and tax-exempt individually managed accounts.  Prior to FIRMCO, Mr. Schelble worked as a Trust Officer for Firstar Trust Company which he joined in 1993.  Mr. Schelble is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin School of Business and the University of Wisconsin Law School and Williams College.  Mr. Schelble is a member of the CFA Institute*, the CFA Society of Milwaukee, and the State Bar of Wisconsin.  Mr. Schelble has over twenty-four years of investment and trust experience.

Lee G. Wolcott, JD is a Vice President and Senior Trust Officer of Provident Trust Company where he has been employed since 2001.  Prior to Provident Trust Company, Mr. Wolcott was Vice President and Head of Personal Trust Administration for Milwaukee for U.S. Bank (formerly Firstar Trust Company) which he joined in 1968.  Mr. Wolcott is a graduate of Cornell Law School and Hamilton College. Mr. Wolcott is also a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin.  Mr. Wolcott has over forty-nine years of investment and trust experience.

Thomas N. Tuttle, Jr., JD is a Vice President and Director of Provident Trust Company where he has been employed since 2010.  Prior to Provident Trust Company, Mr. Tuttle was President of The PrivateBank N.A. from 2008 to 2010 after having served as Head of Wealth Management at The PrivateBank – Wisconsin from 2005 to 2008.  Prior to joining the PrivateBank, Mr. Tuttle served as Vice President and Director of Wealth Management at Marshall & Ilsley Trust Company which he joined in 1995.  Mr. Tuttle is a graduate of the New York University School of Law and the University of Wisconsin and is a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin.

James R. Daley, JD is Chief Compliance Officer of Provident Trust Company where he has been employed since 2012. Prior to joining Provident Trust Company, Mr. Daley was a Compliance Officer for M&I Investment Management Corp. which he joined in 2007.  Mr. Daley graduated from Marquette University Law School and the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee and is a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin.

Deborah D. Cunningham is an Administrative Officer and Office Manager and joined Provident Trust Company in September, 2008. Ms. Cunningham has thirty-five years of financial services and trust experience, including retirement plan, custody and personal trust experience with Firstar Investment Research & Management Company, U.S. Bank and Great-West Retirement Services. Ms. Cunningham has attended several business and compliance seminars throughout her career.

Genevieve Lauren Harkness is a member of the Administration and Trading Teams and joined Provident Trust Company in September, 2010. Ms. Harkness graduated in 2008 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in English Literature from Roanoke College in Salem, Virginia. After graduating, Ms. Harkness took several business classes at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee.

Andrea L. Kulich is a member of the Administration and Operations Teams and joined Provident Trust Company in May, 2012. Ms. Kulich has twelve years of banking experience between The PrivateBank and M&I Bank. She has worked in many areas of banking, most recently in the Loan Operations Department at The PrivateBank.

Sarah M. Lundey is a member of the Administration Team and joined Provident Trust Company in September, 2010. Ms. Lundey began working in the financial service industry thirty-five years ago at First Wisconsin. She has worked in many areas of banking, most recently in the Trust area. Ms. Lundey has a BS from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.

Tamara J. Messmer is an Administrative Officer and member of the Trading Team and joined Provident Trust Company in September, 2004. Ms. Messmer has twenty-four years of financial services experience, which includes ten years working for FIRMCO and three years working for U.S. Bank Institutional Trust. Ms. Messmer is a graduate of Milwaukee Area Technical College with an Associates Degree in Accounting.

Nathaniel Walker is a member of the Administration and Operations Teams and joined Provident Trust Company in March, 2017. Mr. Walker has twenty-three years of experience in finance and has developed a broad skill set at Bronfman E.L. Rothschild, Marietta Investment Partners and U.S. Bancorp, demonstrating expertise in the areas of trading, operations, administration and client support. In addition, we are proud to note that Mr. Walker is also a former Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps with over 10 years of active duty.

Bonnie J. Zientara is an Operations Officer and member of the Operations Team and joined Provident Trust Company in March, 1999. Ms. Zientara has over forty-one years of financial banking experience. Prior to joining Provident, Ms. Zientara had over twenty-seven years of banking experience with Waukesha State Bank and the last ten years were as Trust Operations Supervisor. She has completed several courses at the American Institute of Banking.
